1 more sleep...

We're jet setting off to NEW YORK CITY tomorrow!!!
Not looking forward to the looonnngggg flight but it'll be worth it when we're at the other end.

Cannot wait to see Central Park in the spring time,  it'll be a  HUGE contrast to seeing it all white and covered in snow.

If you don't already follow me on Instagram and want to follow my travels make sure you add me (Ms_Jodes) I'm not sure I'll have the chance to pop onto the blog while we're away.

Just under a week until I officially turn 30 too.
So many amazing times ahead!

Whirlwind 48hrs!

My oh my.. What an amazing couple of days.
If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you'd probably already know my exciting news....However....
On Thursday night I got engaged. I've been with my boyf for almost 10 years, even though we've been together that long the engagement was a shock and a massive surprise.

He did it just at home, very low key and I had to prompt to get it out of him.
Luckily the ring spoke for itself!

The ring is amazing and so STUNNING! So sparkly!
It's a platinum ring with a princess cut diamond and 2 trilliant diamonds either side. He designed the ring and had it made. It's been made to be able to fit a wedder either side!
No pictures I can get capture the amazingness of the ring. You'll have to just trust me on that one.

First bridal magazine from the BFF!

Then, on  Friday night my BFF organised a surprise 30th birthday dinner for me and even arranged for one of my really good friends from Canberra to come up for the surprise!
What an amazing night I had. So blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people!

The cake was ordered from one of Mrs S's friends.
Super cute buttercream ruffles.
The boyf (or I  should say Fiance hehe) told her she should say she needs the cake for someone else she knows and had me make by own Birthday Cake. He thought he was pretty funny.
I'm making my own cake for a birthday dinner with my family when we return anyways!
I wouldn't have minded! haha..

Now just 2 more sleeps and we're off to USA beginning with New York to continue on the celebrations!
Maybe we should book into a dress fitting at Kleinfield's when in NYC.. haha

So much excitement all at once!

Happy Mothers day to all the mummies out there.
I bought my mumma a bouquet of natives which she loves.
She'll be getting something from OS for a belated mothers day gift..

Have a fabulous Sunday afternoon all.

Twinnies Onesies!

One of my friends who lives down in Canberra had twins a couple of months back.
I wanted to send something little down to them and started trawling Etsy (love Etsy!) for something super cute to send.
I am obsessed with twins and I would LOVE LOVE to have a set of twins myself.
A boy and a girl and Boom! Done!

My friend who just had the twins already has a 2 year old and said that it's much harder with 2!
I guess if I have twins first up it's all I'll know.. Won't know what it's like having 1 compared to 2.. Haha.. Surely there's a positive in that right?

Anyways, what I ended up getting were these super duper cute twinnies onesies!
(she had a boy and a girl - obvs)

Seriously! How damn adorable.
The girls one came with that little headband also!
I totally recommend the seller also!

I cannot wait to get back down to Canberra to meet the little darlings!
Hopefully I'll be down there in a couple of months time!

P!NK's response!

Here is another example why I love P!NK!
She doesn't take shit and says it how it is.
She's had to cancel a show because she's pretty sick and even got some hate mail over it.
Anyone that has been to a P!NK concert would know she doesn't just prance around the stage acting all pretty and certainly doesn't just lip sync. Her shows are pretty full on and very taxing on the body.

If she's sick, she's sick... She is (gasp) human so these things happen.
Sure, I would be devastated if she had to cancel the concert I'm going to in a few months here but at the end of the day if her body won't let her perform then it just isn't going to happen.

(Image from PINK's FB Page)

Anyways - here's her response that she's put out on her FB page;

To all of the fans/friends/people/ticket buyers from the Birmingham show that I had to cancel: and I say "had" because I had absolutely no choice in the matter, no control over the circumstances, and physically could not get my sick ass on stage, because of an ear infection and chest infection all at the same time, and even a doctor told me I could not go on stage wether I wanted to or not: To all of you:

I sincerely apologize, AGAIN, for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Sincerely. I actually rode by the venue, and saw some of you in line, and there was not a fucking thing I could do about any of it. Except cry. My heart was absolutely broken.

I am getting a lot of hate mail from some of you, not all. But to those of you that expect and feel entitled to perfection; Have a look at my track record- please- in general- for tours past. I have an incredible record. I do not cancel and I do not take it for granted how much trouble people go to- from spending hard earned money they don't have, to travel expenses and time and planning, etc. I take NOnE of it for granted, EVER. That's why I never phone it in. I go on stage and pour my fucking heart and body out on that stage. I ruin my body and my vocal chords, make myself sicker, come hell or high water. I don't lip sync, I don't rely on dancers to do my work for me. I try to put the best show on that I can, that any human being can, and I don't stop until I know you're happy.

I am a human being, therefore I am able to catch illness. It is beyond my control- and I can't apologize for that. And you know what I've been performing through the last week? ROTA virus. Look it up. I challenge any one of you to do what I do while sick with that. You couldn't do it.

The fact that I don't get the benefit of the doubt from you saddens me. There is no way I can make up this date. There isn't a way. And for any of you that believe in me, please know we did everything we could to try to make it happen. Everything. It's a logistical nightmare that is again, out of my control.

And guess what? I might actually get sick again on this tour. Can you imagine it? How dare I even think that? I have a two year old who is building her immune system by getting sick all over the place. And the fact that I even went on tour while being a full time mom is a miracle in itself.

The next time I schedule dates- ill have to say to myself- "if, God forbid I have to cancel one show, those fans will turn on me like rabid dogs and question the moral fabric of my character."

For the loyal and understanding fans- I am so so sorry if I've hurt you in any way. For the rest of you- Kindly kiss my entire almost back to healthy ass.

Love always, Alecia the human also known as p!nk

...and BOOM.
Well said!

Have you been to a P!NK concert before? I've been and I cannot wait to go again to the concert here in August! So much excitement!

Layered and Ruffle Buttercream Baby Shower Cake.

I'm off to a baby shower today for one of the chickies I work with.
Her sister who is organising the baby shower asked if I would make a cake for it but the design was left up to me. Colours for the baby shower though are Baby Pink and Blue since the mumma-to-be isn't finding out what flavour of bub they're having.

I thought I would decoratethe cake with buttercream since it is tastier (and easier) then fondant and what a cuter design then the ruffled buttercream (also done back here)

I also was wondering what I could make for the top of the cake and was considering a pink and blue flag bunting, but when I was browsing Daiso last week (recently opened in Brisbane) I saw these cute little pom pom balls and decided I would make the cake topped a Pom Pom Garland!
I think all in all it turned out super cute!
Simple but cute.
I hope!

The cake is a pink and blue (kind of more of a green though - adding some violet to the cake batter as well as blue would have made it turn more blue) vanilla layer cake with vanilla buttercream icing.
I added a tiny bit of violet gel colouring to the icing to make it turn whiter then the yellowy butter colour.
It turned whiter then what it was but it's still got a little yellow tinge to it. Great trick though, next time I'd add a little more but didn't want to add to much in fear it would turn purple.
Apparently the violet counteracts the yellow and goes white!
I wish I kept a little uncoloured buttercream aside so I could show the difference side by side.

Anyways - enough chatting, here are the piccies!

Layered up.
Buttercream between the layers with a thin layer of strawberry jam also for a little strawberry sweetness.

Thin layer of buttercream ready to start the ruffles.

..and completed.
Topped with the Pom Pom Garland that I made!

I was looking for a mini rubber duck to go on top but couldn't find what I wanted. I was going to make one from fondant but I think with the ruffled buttercream it's enough.

Pom Pom Garland turned out well.
Cute!

Now for the inside cutting pictures!

So happy with the layers. Perfecto.
Super cute!

Anyone want a piece?
The cake wasn't dry at all. Phew!
I hate dry cake!

What a perfect day we have in Brisbane today for a baby shower!

Have a fabulous weekend all.
